A.V.Meiyappan started his own studios at Karaikudi in 1946. The film "Naam Iruvar" produced here ran for Silver Jubilee. The other films produced here were "Vedala Ulagam" and "Ram Rajya".

In 1948 AVM Studios moved to Vadapalani, Madras. Starting with a single floor, AVM Studios increased the area to nine floors - an outstanding achievement.

AVM Studios has the latest facilities for Video with U-matic Camera, Video Dubbing Theatre and Audio Recording and Duplication. It also has 2 Editing Rooms and 2 Air-conditioned Pre-view Theatres.

Apart from 9 floors, AVM Studios has 4 Recording Theatres fully equipped with latest computerised instruments. It also has one Computerised dubbing Theatre.

AVM Studios provides facilities for production of T.V Serials with complete post-production capabilities. It also has out-door sets covering houses and row of streets, Bus-stand, Police station , Lawns etc., to have all shooting facilities under one roof.

AVM Studios has Air-conditioned make-up rooms in all floors for lead players and general 20 costume/make-up rooms are there for the use of other artists. It also has rain effect, Storm effect, automated back-projection facility.

AVM Studios has special materials for erecting any type of in-door sets, with adequate light facilities, and carpentry machinery.

AVM Studios is one of the largest and the most active Studios in South East Asia. After the demise of its Founder, Shri AV. Meiyappan, his sons Mr. M.Saravanan, Mr. M.Balasubramanian and grandson Mr. M.S.Guhan are currently managing the Studios.
