Admission
Procedure
Admissions
are based on merit and subject to the Tamil Nadu Government's Examination
Schedule Reservation policy.
Examination
The
University follows Choice Based Credit System and Semester pattern of Examination
with Continuous Internal Assessment; Generally the semester Examinations
are held in Nov-Dec. and April-May.
Research
Top
priority is given to Research and a number of scholars are pursuing research
in various faculties under JRF, Part-Time and also Full-Time non- stipendiary
schemes, 360 candidates have registered for Ph.D under different disciplines
. Of this 89 have successfully completed their programme (as on Feb'99).
A
number of research projects in identified thrust areas sponsored by various
agencies like Department of Science and Technology (DST), Indian Council
for Agricultural Research (I.C.A.R), All India Council for Technical Education,
(A.I.C.T.E), Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (C.S.I.R) University
Grants Commission (UGC) etc, to the tune of Rs. 4 crores are being undertaken
by the faculty of the University Departments. A number of Regional, National
and International Seminars , Symposia, Workshops etc. are organised by
the Departments to benefit out of Interactions between experts and specialists
in the respective areas of knowledge.
