Shopping
You could
go slightly crazy here - the antique shops are overflowing, the
best picks being the quaint pewter jars, oil and cans, mugs and
bowls in lovely blues and greens imported from Czechoslovakia (Rs
50 upwards); the lacquer -work Burmese bamboo boxes and bowls that
gleam in blacks, reds and browns
( Rs 200 upwards ); and the furniture, if you know wood well. For collectors,
there are record players, telephone, crystal, ceramic, china, old pictures,
wooden artefacts , jars of face cream and hair pomade imported from the
UK a century ago, wooden chests from China...
